Broad description of channels of influence

How a reduction in abortion costs or increase in legal availability of abortion might decrease fertility

  • Assuming that a certain proportion of pregnancies are unplanned and would not be substituted for by later planned pregnancies, reduced costs of abortion mean that the termination of these pregnancies does decrease the total number of kids the mother has.
